NCAA Playoffs: OSU vs LSU
Picking the NCAAF National Champion does not come with the safety net I discussed in my articles on picking the winners in the first round of the NFL playoffs. Nope, I only get one shot. No chance for redemption. I am right or I am wrong. However, this year I don’t think its going to be that difficult. Well first things first, lets do our standard algebraic analysis of the experts numbers
LSU is favored by 4 over Ohio State and the point total is expected to be 49. This means that LSU + OSU = 49 and LSU = OSU + 4 then 49 = 2(OSU) + 4 and thus the experts are telling us OSU will score about 22 points. This of course also means LSU will score about 26 so the experts are predicting say LSU 26 OSU 22.
Sure.
You gotta be kiddin me.
First, name the OSU quarterback this year. Uh-Huh. Now name the one they had last year. Do the same for the backs and wide receivers.
What’s my point? Last year a much better OSU team full of household names got absolutely destroyed by the SEC champion It will never happen two years in a row right? Wrong. Its absolutely going to. I cant find one advantage that OSU has over LSU.
Don’t let those two losses LSU has bother you, they were both triple overtime SEC losses. I am sorry but in my opinion there is a huge difference between the football played in the SEC and the football played in the Big Ten. Unless the coach’s name is Paterno, the Big Ten doesn’t win bowl games (Yeah Yeah Yeah I watched the Michigan game, but that was Lloyd Carr’s last game) Believe me, I would love to see one for all of us up north here in Big Ten country, but we are using our wits here and not our hearts.
Now again, this is one of those that seems fishy to me. That line seems way low and the situation is not the same as I talked about in the Pittsburgh vs Jacksonville game. The only thing I can figure is that people are picking this game by comparing it to last years game. Cardinal sin. Two different games, two different teams, two different years. LSU 34 OSU 20. but it wont be as close as the score indicates.
